Chee-Yann Wong

Mr. Wong is a Managing Director in the Ares Private Equity Group. Prior to joining Ares in 2025, Mr. Wong was the Chief Investment Officer of Northstar, where he focused on private equity and venture capital investments in Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on Indonesia and Singapore, and the consumer, financial services and digital economy sectors. Previously, Mr. Wong was an Investment Principal on the Private Equity Team at Actis Capital and an Assistant Vice President on the Private Equity Team at GIC Special Investments in China and Southeast Asia. He led investments in early-stage, growth capital, buyouts and structured transactions with leverage at GIC, Actis and Northstar. Mr. Wong holds a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in Engineering from Cornell University, and an M.Fin. from Princeton University.
